Lansdowne Sports Day
Lansdowne enjoyed a classic sports day this week. When the children go to school, they’ll be expected to get themselves changed for P.E., so everyone brought in their sports kit from home to practise this skill. Once changed, we all took part in running races, an obstacle course, ball games, bean bag toss & of course, an egg & spoon race!

Dragon's Tale
Currently, our ‘Region of the Month' is Japan & the Far East, so we were inspired to make our own dragon to celebrate Asian culture. We conducted some research by looking at the colours of the Chinese flag & where China is on the map. We talked about the colours used on traditional Chinese dragons & about how some dragons are depicted breathing fire & that fire is very hot. We also read one of our favourite books: Room on the Broom, which features a fire-breathing dragon. Whe

Colourful Café
At Lansdowne, Pre-school decided to create their own healthy café & make some tasty smoothies to help them cool down in this stifling heat! Everyone picked which flavours they thought would go together best from a variety of gorgeous treats. We talked about the different sizes, colours & textures of the fruit & practised counting how many of each one we were going to put in our smoothies. We all took turns to wash our chosen fruit & talked about why it's important to do this

Leavers 2021
At Bournemouth Day Nursery we've been celebrating with our Pre-school classes & preparing them for their move up to Infant School in September. We’ve put together a ‘Leaver’s Course' in which we’ve partnered with local schools to understand exactly what they’re geared towards & what they expect from their new arrivals. The children & their parents enjoyed a lovely picnic together in the garden, which allowed them all to get to know which other children are going to the same s

Colourful Crafting
Whilst we were in the garden, we noticed all the trees & flowers were in full bloom & it inspired us to do some colourful crafting of things you might find in nature. We practised our pencil control whilst tracing our chosen design, then we took turns to carefully cut different coloured pieces of tissue paper to stick onto our picture. We decided to display our artwork around the garden so the sun can shine through them & illuminate their beautiful colours!
