Volatile Volcanoes
Inspire by our current country of the month, Iceland, Preschool enjoyed creating a volcano that really erupted! Firstly, we talked all about volcanoes, why they erupt, what erupts out of them & what we might need to make our own volcano erupt. We also discovered that Iceland has a volcano called Fagradalsfjall, which had the longest eruption ever recorded & then looked a variety of other volcanoes, active & dormant. Once our homemade volcano had finished spewing its ‘lava’, w

Big Blue Bus!
Our Under 2s have been busy junk modelling a big blue bus! We practised mixing colours & explored making different marks with our paintbrushes & our hands (& managed to make a bit of a mess in the process!) We also made a steering wheel for our bus using a paper plate & cardboard tube.

Space Adventure
Inspired by our current learning theme of transport, Under 2s have been focussing on air transport. We talked about what you might see in the sky such as aeroplanes, clouds, the sun, the moon, stars & even rockets! We then read some of our favourite space-themed books & built our very own model rockets out of coloured card & tin foil. We also role-played travelling with our friends to outer space in a rocket ship, pointing out stars & planets on the way & of course, singing ‘

Question of Transport
On our way to the Salvation Army to drop off a food donation, Preschool discussed all the different methods of transport we could see. We saw busses & cars & lorries & even spotted a couple of models of transport we hadn’t seen before: a tuk tuk & a rickshaw. When we got back from our walk, we had a meeting with Annie & told her about everything we’d seen. We all decided to write some letters to people who work in public transport, as we had some questions. We asked Bournemou

Valentine's Day
We threw ourselves whole-heartedly into the Valentine’s Day spirit with numerous love-day-themed activities. At Lansdowne, Under 2s baked beautiful heart-shaped biscuits, measuring out our ingredients & rolling out our dough. 123s enjoyed exploring a sensory tray filled with a huge heart made from rice & recognising different shapes such as heart, circle & star. Preschool created some wonderful collages using a range of different materials. At Talbot Woods, Under 2s made gorg

Thank You to Parents...
For supplying P.E. kit for this week’s dance class with Julie. Encouraging the children to get themselves changed & ready for the class is a huge part of preparing for big school.

Working at the Car Wash
Inspired by our current learning theme of transport, 123s thoroughly enjoyed creating their very own car wash! Obviously, we had to get our vehicles dirty before we could clean them, so, we rolled them through paint & onto paper to create different patterns. We also discussed how we travel to & from nursery & then tried to name as many different parts of a car as we could, for example the wheels & the doors. When it came to cleaning our vehicles, we took turns using our straw

A Tea Party Fit for Kings & Queens!
To celebrate the UK being our region of the month, we threw a traditional British tea party! After donning our crowns, we sat down to homemade scones, fairy cakes & finger sandwiches & had a right royal time!

Happy Chinese New Year!
Wishing you all a strong & prosperous year of the Tiger! Talbot Woods’ Pre-school have been celebrating by making lanterns, banners & delicious red cakes.
