Never too much Nature!
It was 123s' turn to go on a nature walk this week! Whilst out & about, we spotted lots of different flowers & leaves, which we enjoyed exploring the texture of. We also collected sticks to see who could find the biggest one!

A Very Happy Mother's Day!
At Lansdowne, we celebrated Mother’s Day early! Our mummies were all invited to have afternoon tea & to stay & play with us! In Preschool, we enjoyed making our own flowers, drawing portraits of our mummies & reading the story ‘I Love my Mummy' all together. Under 3s planted flowers & explored the coloured rice & the flower water play. Everyone sat down to tea & delicious cakes & biscuits, which were carefully labelled by some of our friends. Thank you to everyone who came &

…What a beautiful day! We’re not scared…
This week, Preschool has been enjoying the story ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt'. Everyone brought in their own special teddy bears from home & we decided to throw them a teddy bear’s picnic! We made sandwiches & teddy bear biscuits & even bear headbands & bear sandwich bags. We loved introducing our bears to each other & our friends! Our cheeky bears then decided to play a game of hide & seek & we all had to go on our very own bear hunt!

Nifty Nature Walk
Preschool went on a wondrous nature walk, looking for all the different plants & creatures we could find! We saw lots of moss & enjoyed its soft, fluffy texture. We were interested in where moss grows & talked about how you often find it on walls, roofs, on the ground & even on trees. We saw lots of different trees & collected some branches that had perhaps fallen down in the storms. We also tried to match the different leaves we found to the correct trees & just enjoyed bein

We Love Stories!
It’s fair to say 123s have taken this month’s theme & run with it! Our favourite stories have inspired some fantastic activities. From dancing to baking, we’ve done it all! We started by reading ‘The Gruffalo’ & creating a huge picture of him, which we all decorated & labelled together. Then, we did some sensory exploring, with grass, stones, shells & twigs & discussing how they felt. We also recreated the lake that features in the story, making our toy animals splash into it

The Very Hungry Caterpillar
Our Under 2s took a leaf out of ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’s’ book & have been tasting lots of delicious new foods! Inspired by the classic story, we walked to our local greengrocers to pick up some of the foods from the book. On the way to the shop we spotted buses, dogs & even our other friends from nursery! Back at nursery, we enjoyed reading ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ & matching the foods we’d bought with what the caterpillar eats. We tasted little bits of all the fo

The Snail & the Whale
Inspired by our current learning theme of ‘stories’, 123s chose one of their favourites to focus on this week: The Snail & the Whale. We started off by watching the video version of the story & enjoyed naming all the different animals we could see, such as dolphins, stingrays, sharks & of course, whales! We then explored our tuff spot tray, which was filled with a watery wonderland. We tried to re-create the story & loved blowing bubbles in the soapy water. We pretended the s

World Book Day 2022
For World Book Day, everyone dressed as their favourite character & brought in the book they were from, which we then read together. At Lansdowne, Under 2s enjoyed listening to ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ & exploring different textures such as grass, water & chocolate ‘mud’. We also played hide & seek in our very own bear cave! Pre-school were lucky enough to have a local professional ice skater visit the nursery. Her career had inspired her to write a children's book, which

Flippin’ Fun!
Obviously we couldn’t let Pancake Day pass us by without celebrating one of our favourite treats! We talked about & tasted a variety of pancakes from around the world, such as crêpes, scotch pancakes & blinis. We also discussed what Shrove Tuesday is all about & why we celebrate it & then looked at the ingredients you might need to make pancakes. Then we even took turns role-playing trying to flip a pancake in a pan, it was flippin’ fun!
