Aboriginal Art

May’s region of the month is Australia & New Zealand, so we felt inspired to try our hand at some Aboriginal-style dot painting. First, we discussed what we might like to paint. We talked about plants, flowers & animals, which is also our theme this month. We each sketched the outline of our pictures & decided which colours we wanted to use by looking at the Australian flag & at some photos of Aboriginal dot paintings that Carly had printed out for us. Then, we used glue sticks & twigs to practise mark-making & to fill-in the outline of our pictures with small dots. We were so pleased with the results & had a ripper of a time mate!
