Very Big Butterfly Count

We try to involve the children in many external activities & particularly when they extend & build on previous learning. Following our successful bug hunt as part of our lockdown Home Learning programme, we joined in the Big Butterfly Count, a nationwide census of 17 moth and butterfly species.

Identification, counting, observing colours and revisiting insect life cycles gave our children a great experience of a practical extension to the learning at home at nursery. After discussing the activity, we were able to draw and paint a huge magic butterfly. Well done!
